About Earth Dog Films

Earth Dog Films is a Boulder-based film production company led by Brian Hedden (NYU Film 2008). We are currently completing a feature-length investigative documentary, Fracking the System: Colorado’s Oil and Gas Wars, about environmental racism and the 10-year grassroots climate justice movement against fracking in Colorado. The film is a powerful exposé on the political power of the fossil fuel industry.

Job Description

Gain firsthand experience of independent documentary production and the world of investigative environmental journalism. Join our intrepid team on the final leg of this five year journey and help finish and launch this film.

Interns will:

  • learn about documentary filmmaking, social impact campaigns and fundraising strategy.

  • receive feedback and mentorship directly from the Director and the Producer in their desired direction of interest.

  • asked to work an average of 10 hours per week in May, June, and July, mostly remotely, but sometimes in-person for events or production.

  • be credited in film and on IMDB.

  • be given the opportunity to participate in growing the climate justice movement in Colorado.

  • be asked to log their hours and submit detailed invoices.

  • be invited to take on projects in their desired area of interest (see below).

  • be treated respectfully and as professionals.

Potential Intern Projects:

  • Work with Archival Producer and Editor to finalize the edit and license archival footage.

  • Work with Producer to plan for film festival schedule.

  • Work with Director and Graphics Designer to finalize the film’s graphics.

  • Observe the Director and Composer during the creation of the score.

  • Help create a music cue sheet.

  • Help prepare legal releases for chain of title and E&O insurance.

  • Grow the film’s network by researching aligned organizations.

  • Assist with throwing fundraising events in April and May.

  • Planning and creating social media calendar and content.

  • Researching screening venues and event sponsorship opportunities.

Hours per week:

10 - working mostly remotely, sometimes onsite at a co-working space in downtown Boulder.

Timeline

Application deadline: March 5th

Internship begins: May 1st (but may begin sooner depending on intern availability)

Internships ends: July 30th

Compensation:

$15/hour as independent contractor.
